What is The Dolphin Project  (TDP)?

Founded in 1989, it's the longest running and largest ALL-Volunteer, non-profit (501c3) Research, Education and Conservation organization dedicated to the protection of the wild, estuarine Bottlenose dolphin and our shared environment. TDP follows the guidelines of the Marine Mammal Protection Act (MMPA)  and conducts Photo-ID dolphin research.

TDP is Looking Ahead

As spring approaches, and we look forward to the pandemic and the restrictions it placed on us easing,  we are working to plan for surveys in 2022. We would love to have more boats and crews on the water to document the locations and activities of the local dolphins. We are continuing to schedule training sessions for crew, and if you are interested in working with us on our surveys, as a crew member, or as a skipper on your boat, please check our training page for more information and a link to the training schedule, which is also at the bottom of this page. The Training Workshop and membership in TDP are prerequisites for survey participation.

We look forward to continuing our work to observe and protect the estuarine dolphins

and hope that you will join us in this important effort!
